पिथौरागढ़ः वीरों की भूमि उत्तराखंड के लिए दुःखद खबर है। देश के लिए दो युद्ध लड़ने वाले पिथौरागढ़ के जांबाज कर्नल दुनिया को अलविदा कह गए है। सोमवार को जाबांज कर्नल (सेवानिवृत्त) तेज सिंह को सैन्य सम्मान के साथ अंतिम विदाई दी गई। इस दौरान कर्नल के अंतिं दर्शन करने जनसैलाब उमड़ पड़ा।
मीडिया रिपोर्टस के अनुसार पिथौरागढ़ के रियांसी गांव निवासी कर्नल तेज सिंह ने 1965 और 1971 के दो युद्ध लड़े थे। 1971 में भारत-पाक युद्ध में उन्होंने दुश्मनों से लोहा मनवाया था। लेकिन दुश्मन को धूल चटाने वाले कर्नल तेज का शनिवार को निधन हो गया था। सोमवार को घाट में सैन्य सम्मान के साथ उनकी अंत्येष्टि की गई। इससे पूर्व उनके आवास पर पहुंचे तमाम पूर्व सैनिकों ने उन्हें श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की।
बताया जा रहा है कि कर्नल तेज सिंह ने देश सेवा के बाद बिग्रेड कैंटीन प्रबंधक के रूप में जिले के पूर्व सैनिकों को सेवाएं दी। वह पूर्व सैनिक संगठन के सलाहकार भी थे और संगठन को समय-समय पर महत्वपूर्ण सलाह देते रहते थे। उनके निधन से शोक की लहर है। उनके निधन को अपूर्णिय क्षति माना जा रहा है।
गौरतलब है कि भारत-पाकिस्तान के बीच वर्ष 1971 में हुई लड़ाई में कई जवान शहीद हुए थे। बागेश्वर जिले के 24 रणबांकुरों ने शहादत दी थी। इनमें से सेना ने चार जवानों को वीर चक्र से अलंकृत किया था। देश की आजादी के बाद से अब तक पाकिस्तान और चीन के साथ हुई लड़ाई समेत विभिन्न ऑपरेशनों में जिले के 183 जवान अपना बलिदान दे चुके हैं।
